CADwalk provides tech-enhanced solutions for critical infrastructure. The Critical Rooms business unit is the only fully integrated turnkey control rooms specialist in our region and has built an enviable reputation for delivering optimal control room outcomes for its clients. We focus on delivering exceptional value at all phases of the project life cycle via our market leading differentiation.
Due to continued growth, we’re looking for an experienced Control Room Design Consultant to join our team of dedicated professionals. As a key contributor to our Control Room division, you’ll work within a multidisciplinary team that consults, designs, supplies, installs, and provides ongoing support for control room solutions.
We support all major industries including Energy, Resources, Infrastructure, Emergency Services, Transport, Defence and Space.
Position Overview:
The role is based in our Perth headquarters (located near the International Airport) and will report directly to the Regional Manager – East who leads our consulting and digital teams.
The control room industry is undergoing rapid transformation and growth. Advancements in technology are driving a trend toward greater centralisation and integration of operations, enabling organisations to manage complex systems more efficiently and securely.
As a Consultant at CADwalk, you’ll lead client engagement and concept development for mission-critical control rooms, translating operational needs into innovative, integrated design solutions across a rapidly evolving, tech-driven industry.
Occasional travel will exist, but this role will be mostly office based in our HQ. Travel expectations are approximately 25%.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage directly with clients to understand their operational needs and translate them into tailored control room concept designs.
Facilitate on-site discovery sessions, including stakeholder interviews, workflow observations, and assessments of infrastructure, technology, and constraints.
Lead interactive design workshops using CADwalk’s proprietary LifeSize and Virtual Reality tools to visualise and refine control room layouts.
Coordinate with internal teams — including console design, AV/KVM, digital systems, PMO, and workshop — to deliver integrated, client-focused solutions.
Prepare detailed proposals, quotes, and documentation for consulting, supply, installation, and aftercare services.
Support sales and project delivery teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, from concept to completion and ongoing support.
Ensure seamless integration of human factors, spatial planning, and technology in all design solutions.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and assist in the development of digital tools within the Consulting & Digital division.
Maintain strong client relationships and act as a trusted advisor throughout the engagement process.
Gain exposure to other areas of the business, including digital innovation, project delivery, and design.
Experience:
At least 8 years’ experience in consulting, project management, or a client-facing role, ideally within technology, infrastructure, or design sectors.
Experience applying human factors and ergonomic design standards in practical environments is highly valued.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills — confident in facilitating workshops and engaging with stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
Critical thinker with a broad technical curiosity and a proactive problem-solving approach.
Experience with IT/AV systems, and networks is beneficial.
Comfortable using digital tools and software, with proficiency in Office 365 and project platforms.
Experience in a process-driven environment with a focus on quality and delivery.
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field preferred.
Willingness to travel occasionally (~25%) across Australia and New Zealand.
What We Offer:
The ability to make a real difference, where your views matter.
A competitive salary and benefits package aligned to your capabilities and experience.
The opportunity for professional development and career growth.
A collaborative, flexible, dynamic and innovative environment.
The involvement in challenging, high-impact projects.
Australian Citizenship is desirable, due to potential Defence related work and associated clearance requirements.
This exciting opportunity presents a long and rewarding career path. If you have a successful consulting or systems design background, enjoy an innovative & dynamic environment, and like to make a difference, then we would like to hear from you!
