About the Role:

  • Did you know that Kalgoorlie Boulder Airport is ranked number 4 in WA after Perth, for passenger numbers.
  • Do you like to watch aircraft Land and Take-off and get paid to do so?
  • Ever wondered what happens on the other side of the fence?
  • Do you want to work casually, part time or fulltime chose your hours or days per week?
  • Paint runways, taxiways and aprons and conduct daily inspections.
  • Work on Runway Lighting systems
  • Respond to emergencies
  • Assist with coordinating works on an airport
  • You will be talking on the VHF radio with pilots whilst operating on the runway
  • Can you operate:
  • Whipper snippers?
  • Ride on mowers?
  • Tractor and slashers?
  • Drive a 4wd vehicle?
  • Familiar with retic and gardening?
  • A computer and an iPad?
  • Follow process and procedures?

An Airport Reporting Office and Works Safety Officer (ARO/WSO) does this and much much more.

An ARO/WSO is a key role on every airport in Australia for its safety and security.

We are looking for a wide range of people with some or all of these skills or other relevant transferable skills.

We can teach you how to become and ARO/WSO with on-the-job training and formal training that is transferable to any Certified Airport in Australia.

Duties

  • You will be an integral part of a small operational team at Kalgoorlie Bouder Airport providing excellence in Airport Operations.
  • Customer service and attention to detail is key.
  • Airports operate 24/7 however the ARO/WSO will work weekdays, early mornings, late into the evening, Saturday and Sundays on a roster basis within in this important specalised team.
  • Current spread of hours of operations are 0500 to 2000 hours weekdays and some weekend work around flight operations.
  • Assist with controlled access to and on the airport.
  • Act as the safety officer for contractor's airside.
  • The role is very varied and those that are ARO/WSO will tell you, you think you are going to this tomorrow and you do something completely different.

Who we are looking for:

  • We have multiple positions to fill.
  • We can consider job share, casuals, part time or fulltime options.
  • We can also meet specific hours per day or per week.
  • The ARO/WSO roles also have a role to fill in the landside part of the airport operations.
  • We are happy to start you off casually and then if mutually agreed, ramp all the way to part time and even fulltime options.
  • You will need to pass a Home Affairs security check to operate airside.
  • A current and active driver's license for the type of equipment you may operate is required.
  • Some Part Time and Fulltime ARO/WSO will also need to complete approved formal training as agreed.
  • These roles will suit someone who wants to operate in a fast dynamic environment that can be subject to change every day if not every hour.
