Quantitative Backend Engineer | Founding Role in Financial Intelligence

We're looking for a Backend Engineer to become the founding technical hire, driving the architecture and implementation of our end-to-end data infrastructure.
This is not a typical engineering job — it's a rare opportunity to influence the DNA of a growing company at the intersection of finance, analytics, and intelligent automation.

What You’ll Be Building We work with asset managers and scaling businesses across sectors, helping them transform raw operational and financial data into investment-grade models and real-time boardroom-ready reports.

Your role will involve:

• Architecting scalable, cloud-based data pipelines from the ground up
• Building robust APIs to integrate with financial and proprietary data sources (e.g. Bloomberg, Refinitiv)
• Designing and optimising database structures (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) for performance at scale
• Translating financial logic into reusable, production-grade code
• Supporting the productisation of our bespoke solutions into a flexible, reusable platform

You’ll Thrive Here If You Have:

• Expert-level Python programming skills (pandas, NumPy, etc.)
• Deep understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and data modelling
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and building production-ready APIs
• A strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, or engineering, and the ability to apply analytical rigour to real-world business challenges
• Familiarity with or a strong interest in financial reporting, accounting principles, and modelling fundamentals
• An outcome-driven mindset and comfort working autonomously in an early-stage environment

Bonus Points For:

• Experience in high-stakes data environments — hedge funds, trading firms, B2B data platforms, or accounting software
• Exposure to accounting workflows, financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow), or capital structuring
• Previous experience at a startup or building 0→1 products
