The opportunity

Join Dragonfly Thinking's growing team: we seek a highly skilled Full Stack/React Developer who is comfortable with frontend and backend development.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and designing frontend web architecture, ensuring the responsiveness of applications, and working alongside cross-functional teams to define and plan new design features, among other duties. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions from conception to final product implementation.

Key responsibilities

Ability to work independently on

A Next.js (React/TypeScript) frontend that drives a dynamic, web-first experience

A backend stack comprising Next.js API routes, and evolving integration with Kotlin/Spring Boot microservices for persistence, auth, and API delivery

Real-time interaction with Google Gemini APIs and a flexible AI orchestration layer

Building out and deploying user-centred app developments

Maintaining robust access control through secure auth integrations (e.g., Google, Entra ID, SAML)

The translation and prototype of Figma designs into fast, responsive interfaces

Debugging distributed systems and working across APIs and data layers

What we're looking for

Must-Haves

Significant experience with modern React (hooks, context, component patterns)

Extensive experience in a type safe backend programming language – with strong familiarity of language fundamentals. (.NET/C#Kotlin/Java/TypeScript)

Solid understanding of Next.js, including SSR, API routes, and modular structure

Familiarity of tools (e.g., GitHub, Jira, Figma) in full software development lifecycle and practices

Nice-To-Haves

Kotlin/Spring Boot experience or strong interest in working with JVM-based backend systems

Familiarity with deployment solutions such as Terraform, CDK, Docker

Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and containerized deployments

Familiarity with AI orchestration tools, LLM prompt engineering, or real-time web search enrichment

Experience integrating secure auth (e.g., SAML, Entra ID, Active Directory)

Australian citizenship (for occasional secure deployments)

Soft Skills

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

Eagerness to learn new technologies, stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and improve existing skills
