Job Title: Occupational Therapist
Department: Allied Health
Location: Multiple Locations / Mobile-based ( servicing Gold Coast / South Brisbane)
Office location: Gold Coast and Brisbane and/ or work from home
Job Type: Part-time or Full-time or Casual
Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the needs, strengths, and goals of clients with a range of psychosocial and physical conditions.
• Develop individualised, evidence-based intervention plans focusing on improving clients' abilities to perform daily activities, manage their mental health, and engage in their communities.
• Implement therapeutic interventions that may include capacity building, skills training, environmental modifications, and psychoeducation.
• Collaborate with clients, their families, carers, and other professionals to coordinate care and support plans.
• Advocate for participants' needs and rights, ensuring their access to appropriate services and supports.
• Monitor and review clients' progress, adjusting intervention plans as necessary to reflect changing needs and goals.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with our guidelines and professional standards.
• Provide education and support to clients and their networks on the role of occupational therapy in promoting physical and mental well-being.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Professional indemnity insurance
• Demonstrated experience in health settings, with a strong understanding of occupational therapy interventions for a range of health conditions.
• Knowledge of the NDIS framework, including experience developing and implementing plans for clients.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals with diverse needs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Current driver's license and willingness to travel to participants' homes or community settings as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with NDIS participants.
• Training or certification in specific therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, DBT, sensory integration).
• Understanding of the social model of disability and commitment to person-centred practice.
• Knowledge of local community services and resources for people with disabilities.
• Familiarity with cultural competency and the ability to work sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds and communities.
