West Coast Council are looking for a new Executive Officer to join our team, providing executive support to the Mayor and General Manager.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

As a leader within Council, coordinate the delivery of corporate and community services for West Coast Council. You will have next-level organisational skills and be experienced in governance and executive support of a board or council.

Key Responsibilities

Actively contribute to the strategy, direction, operation, analysis, and evaluation of the department.

Embrace continuous improvement by identifying areas for cost saving or operational improvement and implementing those improvements.

Assist with the development and coordination of correspondence including report writing.

Support and promote the Council’s vision, mission, and values through interactions with the community and Council.

Implement and maintain activities that support an effective governance and risk framework.

Provide collaborative, professional and confidential Executive support.

Support & coordinate council meetings, workshops and civic functions.

Undertake research and special projects.

Interpersonal Skills

Ability to gain co-operation and assistance from Mayor and Councillors, clients, members of the public and other employees in the administration of defined activities.

Able to liaise with their counterparts in other organisational for specialist matters and with other employees in other functions in their own organisational to resolve intra-organisational problems.

Leadership & Management Skills

Lead, inspire and engage with the team to achieve high performance.

Ensure management decisions are executed promptly, effectively and efficiently.

Require skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and organising one's own work and where appropriate that of other employees to achieve specific and set objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.

Experience in managing complex work and motivating teams.

Skills and experience in governance, with experience in local government preferred.
