MultiLit publishes a range of educational programs and products and supports these with comprehensive professional development courses targeting schools and teachers. The MultiLit business operates within three business units:
Professional Development and School Partnerships – providing training face-to-face and online as well as via online self-paced modules in support of MultiLit programs.
Product Development and Publication Sales – develops literacy programs and educational resources for release primarily to schools and also to the public.
Literacy Centres – delivering tutoring services face-to-face and online to students. Currently in four locations – Macquarie Park, Bella Vista, Fortitude Valley and Subiaco.
MultiLit’s activities are all underpinned by the MultiLit Research Unit. With its team of PhD-qualified researchers, the MRU carries out research underpinning the programs and services provided by MultiLit and evaluates the efficacy of MultiLit classroom resources, as well as empirical research in other areas of literacy and effective instruction.

Objectives of the role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Production Manager to oversee and manage the end-to-end production process across various projects. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of printing technologies, exceptional project management skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality print materials on time and within budget.
As Production Manager, you will liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to coordinate all aspects of production including scheduling, procurement, quality control, and logistics. Your goal will be to ensure efficient and cost-effective production while upholding brand standards and quality expectations.
This role is based within the Production team, reporting to the COO and Publisher.
Key responsibilities
Manage and coordinate print production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of all printed materials.
Source and liaise with external print vendors, negotiating pricing, timelines, and quality expectations.
Liaison with Finance Manager and Publisher regarding production planning to maintain stock levels
Oversee quality assurance and proofing processes to ensure printed output meets required specifications and brand guidelines.
Track and manage production budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Collaborate with publications, production and marketing teams to gather project requirements and deliver effective print solutions.
Maintain detailed records of print jobs, vendor performance, and invoicing.
Keep up to date with print technology trends, materials, and sustainable printing practices.
Essential skills and experience
Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in print production, print management, or a related field.
Strong understanding of digital and offset printing processes, paper stocks, finishing techniques, and colour management.
Excellent project management and organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
Proficient in using production tools and software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or print-specific workflow systems.
Strong communication and negotiation skills when dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance.
Experience working in an Australian print or marketing environment is highly regarded.
Desirable, but not essential
Formal qualifications in Print Production, Graphic Design, Print Technology, or a related field.
Experience in sustainable and environmentally friendly print practices.
Knowledge of Australian printing standards and industry best practices.
