Join Charles Darwin University’s dynamic Employee Relations team, where you will play a key role in delivering expert advice and support on employment legislation, enterprise agreements, and complex industrial relations matters. As the Advisor/Consultant, you will:
• Provide specialist industrial relations advice and case management support under the guidance of the Senior Manager Employee Relations.
• Manage complex disciplinary processes and Fair Work Commission matters.
• Support the application and interpretation of the Enterprise Agreement, legislation, awards, and university policies.

About You
We are looking for a motivated professional who:

  • Has a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an operational IR or HR role
  • Demonstrates strong expertise in interpreting employment legislation and contemporary HR practices.
  • Has practical experience in end to end case management, including disciplinary proceedings and Fair Work Commission proceedings.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, with the ability to draft clear policy documents and executive summaries.
  • Shows strong analytical and logical reasoning skills to research and resolve employment issues effectively.

Key Selection Criteria (Level 8)

  • Proven ability working with Senior Managers to provide sound advice and recommendations on complex employment and industrial matters..
  • Strong negotiation skills to manage collective bargaining, resolve conflicts, and advocate effectively for the organisation or employees
  • Extensive experience managing and overseeing complex disciplinary proceedings, managing disputes and Fair Work Proceedings.
  • Deep understanding of industrial relations law, employment law, and compliance requirements to ensure all actions are legally sound.
  • Skill in handling grievances, disputes, and disciplinary matters with fairness and sensitivity with the capacity to understand diverse perspectives and handle sensitive situations with tact and discretion.

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Professional Employee Level 7/8. The base salary will be in the range of $93,475 - $118,578 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $109,365 - $138,736 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
