Contribute to good governance and political integrity in South Australia

The Liberal Party of South Australia is seeking a dedicated Governance & Compliance Manager to oversee internal and external governance processes and legal compliance. This senior position is ideal for a compliance professional with strong organisational skills and a keen understanding of membership-based organisations and/or political environments.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with state and federal electoral legislation and other relevant laws (ECSA, AEC, ATO)

Prepare agendas, reports, and minutes for monthly State Executive and other Party Unit meetings

Support and oversee internal governance of Branches, Electorate Conventions, Councils and Standing Committees

Support candidate vetting and preselection processes

Maintain internal registers and oversee statutory disclosures

Assist with governance training for Office Bearers and Campaign Officers

Coordinate complaints handling both internal and external

Liaise with electoral bodies, auditors, and legal advisers as required

Maintain and expand internal knowledge base by drafting policies and procedures

Skills and Experience

Essential:

5+ years in governance, compliance, risk, or legal advisory roles

Qualifications in law, governance, political science or public administration

Experience supporting Boards, Executive Committees, or complex rule-based organisations

Outstanding organisational, communication, and confidentiality skills

Desirable:

Background in politics, public law, or membership-based organisations

An interest in politics or current affairs

Understanding of the Liberal Party’s Constitution and values
