Governance Officer

We’re on the lookout for a proactive and detail-oriented Governance Officer to join our Corporate Services team. In this pivotal role, you’ll help shape the future of NAWMA’s governance, risk and policy functions — playing a key role in our mission to create a more sustainable South Australia. While full-time work is preferred, part-time arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Supporting governance processes, risk frameworks and compliance reporting.

Leading the discovery, implementation and ongoing management of a fit-for-purpose Records Management System.

Developing and reviewing policies, procedures and frameworks that keep NAWMA running smoothly.

Coordinating Board and Audit Committee agendas and minutes.

Supporting strategic risk and contract registers, our Annual Report, and Business Continuity Plan.

Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver best-practice governance initiatives.

About You:

You’re an experienced professional with a passion for systems, structure, and service excellence. You will bring:

Tertiary qualifications and/or 3+ years’ experience in a similar role.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Proven experience developing and applying policies and procedures.

Strong understanding of governance, risk, and compliance requirements.

The ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain confidentiality.

Bonus points if you have knowledge of local government or waste/environmental services — but if you’re ready to learn, we’re ready to support you.
