The Opportunity
This role works within Public Transport South Australia (PTSA), a division in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport. PTSA is committed to providing well-connected and customer focused services for mass transit movements that can be delivered safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

The PTSA Commercial, Governance and Projects directorate is responsible for ensuring compliance and effective governance, business management, contract management, data analytics and strategic project management across PTSA.

Step into a high-powered role where leadership meets logistics. As our Senior Contract Manager - Bus, you'll be the driving force behind the management of major service delivery contracts --ensuring top-tier performance, legal precision, and compliance excellence.

You'll steer complex negotiations, advise key stakeholders, and lead high-stakes decision-making with confidence and authority. You will be responsible for overseeing contract performance to ensure alignment with service requirements, preparing high-level parliamentary reports, and confidently representing the Department in all engagements with service providers.

About You
To be successful in this role you will:

Communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders at all levels, resolving issues with professionalism and delivering concise, insightful reports grounded in strong analytical skills and commercial acumen.

Take initiative and act with urgency, drawing on broad knowledge to develop practical solutions, support continuous improvement, and manage risk effectively.

Ensure contract compliance through robust processes, and work independently or collaboratively to plan, prioritise, and meet objectives.

build and maintain strategic relationships that enhance service delivery, navigate complexity, and support sound, commercially and politically informed decision-making.

Qualifications/Experience

Tertiary qualification in business, legal or commercial related discipline will be highly regarded.

Willingness to undertake the required Contract Management Course in line with Procurement Services SA's Contract Management Policy

Detailed knowledge and demonstrated experience in implementing government policy, agency procedures and practices in the performance of contract management Comprehensive knowledge of contract law, commercial contracting models and risk management processes. Well-developed understanding of financial documents, finance principles and the ability to interpret financial statements and provide relevant reports

Special Conditions
Prior to employment with the Department the successful candidate will be required to provide:

A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
