About the role

As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations and ensuring the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our customers at Doncho's Cafe. This is a full-time position based in Virginia SA.

What you'll be doing

Manage and lead the kitchen team, including planning, coordinating and supervising all food preparation

Develop and implement creative, seasonal menus that showcase high-quality, locally sourced ingredients

Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently, maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and service

Monitor and control food costs and wastage to maximise profitability

Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment in compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines

Foster a positive team culture and provide mentorship and training to kitchen staff

Effectively plan and manage weekly rosters

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar senior culinary role

Exceptional culinary skills and a passion for creating innovative, flavoursome dishes

Strong leadership and people management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and develop a kitchen team

Excellent time management and organisational skills to ensure efficient kitchen operations

Working knowledge of food safety, hygiene and cost control best practices

Tertiary qualification in Culinary Arts or a related field is highly desirable
