The opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced and highly-effective Emergency Management Coordinator to join our Emergency Management team, leading Council’s legislative emergency management, bushfire, and public safety obligations.
Emergency Management plays an integral part in our community across Port Stephens. You will play an essential role in leading and managing Council’s Emergency Management Framework, and support the Port Stephens Local Emergency Management Committee.
As part of this opportunity, you will be required to act as LEMO when necessary and assist in the coordination of emergency events with key Emergency Service stakeholders which may require you to work out of hours and some weekends. As Council’s key liaison for emergency response and combat agencies, this position may include after hours and on-call arrangements.
This is a permanent opportunity – working full-time 35 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement
Base Salary Range: $113,135 - $133,104 pa based on 35 hours / week + 12% superannuation + $18,619.19 motor vehicle allowance + $2,312 retention allowance - salary reflective of FY24/25 rates with a 4% increase to the base salary range set from end of July 2025.
You will be working from PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

Management, leadership and direction of Council’s emergency management, public safety, and bushfire operations
Provision of specialist advice to Council, committees and business units regarding emergency management
Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, to develop the preparedness for response to natural disasters and emergencies

A degree or post-graduate qualification in emergency management with several years of relevant experience
Completion of appropriate Emergency Operations training through the NSW Government
Highly developed analytical, investigative and conceptual skills, the ability to solve complex problems and make decisions that reflect thorough and appropriate evaluation of the issues to be addressed
Demonstrated high-level leadership skills including the ability to lead and motivate others
