The Nurse Manager - Emergency Department is responsible for ensuring the delivery of optimal and safe patient care within the Emergency Department through established collaborative partnerships internal and external to the department. Primary responsibilities include appropriate management and co-ordination of staff which includes nurses, administrative and support staff, coordination of patient care and management of departmental processes and practice. The Nurse Manager works closely and collaboratively with the ED Director in order to ensure appropriate leadership in clinical, financial and human resource management and to support the daily operational activities of the department. The Nurse Manager ensures that overall functioning of the Emergency Department is in accordance with the department?s strategic plan and also ensures the maintenance of quality standards of care. The Nurse Manager promotes excellence in patient care and clinical service delivery.

1. Demonstrated extensive clinical and management experience in the Emergency Department and evidence of post graduate qualifications in Health Management or substantial completion of same.
2. How would you describe your leadership style in the context of the dynamic environment of ED? Describe your strengths and any areas you feel could be developed further.
3. Describe your approach to roster management. How do you ensure optimal staffing levels, manage unexpected absences, and accommodate team preferences while maintaining high-quality patient care?
4. Tell us about a time when you led a change initiative involving a process change. How did you approach planning, and what was your strategy for overcoming resistance to change?
5. Can you provide an example of a situation where you had to work closely with various stakeholders on a complex issue? Describe your role and the tools you used to facilitate clear communication and achieve a collaborative outcomes?
