Your next career opportunity
As the Going Rural Health (GRH) Student Administration Officer at the University of Melbourne's Department of Rural Health, you'll be instrumental in supporting nursing and allied health students undertaking rural clinical placements. Based in Ballarat, Shepparton, or Wangaratta, you'll ensure students receive the support they need to thrive in rural settings, potentially shaping their future career choices. This role offers you the chance to contribute directly to rural health workforce development while working in a dynamic, values-driven environment.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support Student Placements: Serve as the first point of contact for GRH students, managing inquiries, processing online applications and providing essential support.

  • Manage Administrative Processes: Maintain effective procedures for student support programs, including bursaries, and accommodation.

  • Process Financial Transactions: Handle student support payments, accommodation invoices, and other financial tasks related to placements.

  • Maintain Data and Reporting: Contribute to GRH data collection, reporting, and database management with high accuracy and precision.

  • Build Stakeholder Relationships: Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.

  • Assist with Events and Promotion: Support educational events and promotional activities for the GRH program.

  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Assist in developing and enhancing administrative processes to drive improvement.

You may be a great fit if:
You have extensive experience in administration, preferably in the tertiary education and/or health sector, with a passion for supporting rural health initiatives.
You may also:

  • Possess outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrate advanced organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Show adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Have experience in financial reporting and accounts payable/receivable.

  • Be proficient in a range of computing skills, including databases and spreadsheets.

  • Demonstrate cultural competence in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

  • Be willing to work in a rural location (Ballarat, Shepparton, or Wangaratta).
