We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Risk Manager to help our member councils reduce risk, and build resilience. This is a full-time role based in Penrith, offering flexibility and growth.

CivicRisk Mutual is a local government mutual providing risk management and insurance services for councils located in NSW & VIC. We support local councils with tailored risk management programs, protection initiatives, and continuous improvement strategies. We’re committed to helping our members build safer, stronger communities through expert advice, training, and shared resources.

What you’ll do

Work closely with member councils to assess risks and develop practical solutions

Provide expert advice and guidance on risk frameworks, policies, and procedures

Help identify risk priorities and support reduction strategies

Deliver training and awareness programs to build member capability

Support existing key risk improvement initiatives

Report and work closely with the Risk and Protection Manager to deliver effective risk management support

Assist with business continuity planning and risk reporting to the Board and Risk Management Committee

Build strong relationships and foster knowledge sharing across councils

What we’re looking for

Experience in risk management, ideally within local government or mutuals

Strong communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships

Confidence in delivering training and presenting ideas clearly

Ability to manage multiple projects and contribute to continuous improvement

Familiarity with business continuity planning and risk engineering

A team player

A current Class C Driver License (some travel required)
