We are a busy cardiology practice seeking a Medical Secretary to work a 7-day fortnight, permanent part time position. The successful candidate will work together in a team with the other Secretary in a similar role with a commencement date of August 2025.

Qualifications & experience

Essential

The ability to provide an exceptional standard of care for our patient

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Exceptional organisational and time management skills

Ability to multi task

Ability to work independently and within a team

Punctual and reliable

Computer literacy with Windows, Word and Outlook.

Touch typing skills

Flexibility to occasionally work 5 days to cover the other secretary on leave or away sick

Desirable

Previous experience with a medical software system is an advantage although not essential

In-depth understanding of patient privacy and medico-legal obligations.

Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred

Previous experience in a Cardiology / Cardiothoracic practice

Tasks & responsibilities

Welcome patients and respond to enquiries

Answer phone calls in a professional manner

Book and confirm appointments

Manage correspondence

Fax and scan documents

Proof read Doctor's letters

Invoice and bill patients via CCOS software system for Medicare, DVA, and private health funds

Collection of billings using EFTPOS machine

Reconciliation of payments

Flexibility to cover the other secretary when sick or on leave
