Umanity Group is a multidisciplinary firm working across law, heritage, and environment. We act for Traditional Owners, PBCs, government, and industry, and are known for delivering high-quality work in complex, high-stakes settings.
We’re expanding our heritage team and seeking capable, committed professionals who are confident in the field, culturally respectful, and detail oriented. This is not a training ground for passengers — it’s a place for professionals who take pride in doing the work properly and representing their team well.
About the Role
You’ll join a high-performing team delivering Aboriginal heritage assessments, surveys, and strategic advice across Western Australia. The role involves fieldwork, reporting, and collaboration with Traditional Owners and clients.
Depending on your experience level, your responsibilities may include:
Leading or supporting on-Country fieldwork and site recording
Mapping and documenting places of cultural significance to a professional standard
Preparing clear, defensible heritage reports
Working under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 and related legislative frameworks
Contributing to project planning and client liaison
Collaborating with Umanity Group’s in-house legal, environmental, and anthropological specialists
What We’re Looking For
A degree in archaeology, heritage, or a related discipline
Experience in cultural heritage fieldwork (preferred, but not essential for early-career applicants)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Cultural competence, professionalism, and reliability in remote settings
A current driver’s licence and capacity for regional travel
A proactive, solutions-focused approach and ability to meet deadlines
We are particularly interested in individuals who take initiative, maintain high standards under pressure, and value working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
What We Offer
A respected and growing consultancy with a clear purpose
A supportive, focused team culture that values professionalism and performance
Opportunities to work across Aboriginal, historical, maritime, and underwater heritage projects
Exposure to legal, scientific, and policy frameworks through in-house expertise
Mentoring, career development, and leadership pathways
Competitive remuneration and flexibility for the right candidates
