About the Role
Lead and supervise the dedicated Communications team within Shoalhaven Water's Mechanical and Electrical unit providing top-tier telecommunication services and system support. Ensure efficient installation, maintenance, and emergency response for communication and security systems, while managing compliance, finances, and operations to meet Council's obligations and customer needs.

Reporting directly to the Unit Manager - Mechanical/Electrical, some roles and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Communication and security systems
  • Two-way radios and base stations
  • Telecommunications cabling
  • Large site security and camera systems.
  • Coordinate and assist with the provision of a comprehensive installation and maintenance service to all customers including:
  • Support and coordinate a team, fostering continuous improvements in processes and practices, and effectively implementing and managing change
  • Enforce compliance with all relevant legislation, standards and Council policies within the Communications Team
  • Identify and manage risks in accordance with relevant legislation and Council policies
  • Manage the budget for the unit
  • Provide reports on expenditure and income across the unit, looking for opportunities to control costs and improve business profitability

Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.


About You

To be successful in the position, you will have:

  • Associate Diploma in Electronics or equivalent
  • Supervisors Certificate or equivalent
  • Current National WHS Construction Card (WorkCover)
  • Security Licence or ability to obtain
  • Data Cabling Registration or ability to obtain
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in supervising a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
