Corrective Services NSW is seeking a committed and motivated Services and Programs Officer (SAPO) to join the team at Shortland Correctional Centre. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in offender rehabilitation, support behavioural change, and contribute to safer communities.

About the role
As a Services and Programs Officer, you will:
- Deliver and support intervention strategies for individuals with cognitive and/or intellectual disabilities
- Conduct individual assessments and contribute to tailored case and support plans
- Facilitate individual and group-based programs to reduce reoffending
- Support individuals with pre-release preparation and community reintegration
- Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and documentation in line with departmental policies
- Liaise with internal teams, allied health, external agencies, and community supports to deliver holistic services.
What we're looking for
We're seeking individuals who:
- Have experience working with people with disability, especially in complex or custodial settings
- Demonstrate strong skills in assessment, case coordination, and intervention planning
- Are confident in delivering support services with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and resilience
- Can facilitate group-based sessions and manage challenging behaviours
- Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and are committed to rehabilitation and reintegration
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, mental health, or related human services, and/or demonstrated equivalent experience
- Current Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (or willingness to complete within required timeframes)
- Current driver licence and willingness to travel within NSW if required
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency
