The IT Program Department is the central hub for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of all technology-driven initiatives across the organisation. This department is solely dedicated to ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of IT projects that align with our business objectives and strategic roadmap. Its core function involves orchestrating resources, managing timelines, mitigating risks, and fostering collaboration among project teams, stakeholders, and external vendors. The IT Program Department acts as the single point of accountability for project performance, driving consistent application of project management methodologies (such as the Holmesglen Project Management Methodology) to transform business requirements into successful, value-adding technological solutions.

The IT Business Analyst at Holmesglen Institute is a critical role within the IT Program Department, responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and technological solutions. This role will work closely with stakeholders across various departments to elicit, analyse, document, and validate business requirements and workflows for diverse IT projects. The IT Business Analyst will play a key role in ensuring that project outcomes are precisely aligned with strategic objectives, contributing significantly to the successful delivery of projects within the Holmesglen Project Management Methodology. This is a newly created role, vital for enhancing our project documentation and requirements management capabilities.

As an IT Business Analyst, you will:

  • Elicit, analyse, and document comprehensive business and technical requirements for IT projects.
  • Map and optimise current and future-state business processes and workflows.
  • Act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical project teams.
  • Ensure accurate translation of business needs into clear, verifiable functional and non-functional specifications.
  • Support project quality assurance, including test case development and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Maintain rigorous adherence to the Holmesglen Project Management Methodology for requirements management and documentation.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of IT solutions that meet business expectations and strategic objectives.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Analysis, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst on IT projects—including infrastructure, identity, and enterprise systems—within both structured and Agile environments, using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, and Visio.
  • Strong capability in requirements elicitation, process modelling, and translating business needs into actionable technical specifications, with a solid understanding of SDLC, identity and access management, and integration technologies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently, contribute to cross-functional teams, and support change management, benefits realisation, and training—ideally within the Higher Education or TAFE sector.
  • WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and also a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
