About us
The Embassy of Denmark is part of the Danish Foreign Service. The Embassy covers Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. We are a small, dynamic, results-oriented and caring team. About your role
The position has a dual function; 1) facilitating the work of the ambassador and 2) assistance with finance and administration. You will work in a small team with the Head of Finance and Administration and in close collaboration with the Ambassador.
For the Ambassador
• Provide day to day personal and professional support, including calendar manage-ment, functions, meeting and travel arrangements, accounting and coordination of correspondence.
• Serve as liaison between the Ambassador and external/internal contacts
• Handle confidential and sensitive matters with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.
For the Head of Finance and Administration
• Maintain accurate financial records of the receipt of money and the payment of expenditure for the Embassy
• Maintain the general ledger, including monthly reconciliations
• Handling GST claims and related paperwork
• Liaison with maintenance and other contractors around the Embassy and the
Ambassador’s residence
• The position also entails a range of routine tasks and ad hoc tasks.
About you
We expect you to be a positive, dynamic, multi-skilled person with good communication skills and attention to detail. You must demonstrate a high level of integrity, self-motivation and initiative and be able to keep your composure under pressure
• A bachelor’s degree or similar administrative qualifications and/or 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Fluency in English; oral and written. Knowledge of Danish or another Scandinavian language is an advantage.
• Experience with personal assistance, managing a calendar and planning functions, dinners and receptions
• Strong organizational and service skills
• Experience with accounting is an advantage
• Knowledge of Danish Public Administration and EU General Data Protection Regula-tion (GDPR) is an advantage.
• Great interpersonal skills, resilience and team player abilities.
• Presence in Canberra
