About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineering Technician (Service Engineer) to join our team and support the ongoing development, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment. This role is critical to the operation of our facilities and will work under the direction of qualified Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists in designing mechanical systems, equipment, and industrial plant.
Prepare detailed technical drawings, plans, and specifications for mechanical installations and systems.
Assemble, install and test mechanical assemblies, tools, components, and hydraulic power systems.
Conduct and direct field and laboratory testing of equipment, and interpret technical data to assess performance and compliance.
Select and coordinate appropriate materials, tools, and machinery for job execution.
Estimate costs, quantities, and timeframes for components and materials.
Analyse operational data and perform complex calculations to support technical development.
Organise and oversee maintenance and inspection schedules to ensure continued reliability and compliance.
Ensure all work and installations comply with relevant technical standards, regulations, and contract requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
A relevant Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field OR
At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a mechanical engineering technician role in lieu of formal qualifications.
Experience working in manufacturing, heavy industry, or mechanical assembly environments is highly regarded.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, drawings, and testing procedures.
Ability to work in a team, follow engineering instructions, and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
Travel Requirements
Approx. 150+ travel days per year, including weekends.
90% of travel within Australia, with occasional assignments in New Zealand and the broader Oceania region.
Potential travel to global offices for technical training.
