A bit about the role
Join one of Victoria’s largest councils in this hands-on role supporting the delivery of high-quality horticultural maintenance across our parks and gardens.
As a Horticulture Contracts Officer, you’ll play a key part in overseeing contractor performance, coordinating landscape and garden bed renewal projects, and ensuring our open spaces are safe, attractive, and well-maintained.
This role combines your passion for horticulture with your ability to manage contracts, respond to community needs, and contribute to continuous improvement in the delivery of outdoor services.

What you’ll deliver
- Supervise and monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Support the planning and delivery of horticultural renewal works across Casey’s parks, including planting, pruning, and landscaping.
- Respond to community requests and provide timely advice to internal stakeholders.
- Collect and input data to support proactive asset renewal and maintenance planning.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks and ensure the upkeep of garden beds, irrigation systems, and public facilities.
What you’ll bring
- A nationally recognised qualification in horticulture (or a relevant field).
- Proven experience in contract management and delivering high-quality maintenance across parks and public spaces.
- Strong knowledge of horticultural practices and experience operating a broad range of plant and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to apply OHS and risk management principles in a practical, outdoor environment.
- Confident communicator with experience coordinating contractors and working collaboratively across teams.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and systems like GIS mapping and TechnologyOne (OneCouncil).
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check and Functional Assessment (Medical/physio).
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
