The Opportunity

Veolia has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Procurement Officer to join our Water Division in Pyrmont 2009. Within this hands on role, you will work closely with operational teams to deliver effective procurement solutions and drive process improvements. You will play a key role in implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with internal departments, including operations and technical or engineering teams, to optimise procurement processes and drive cost savings.

What you'll be responsible for

Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organisational goals and objectives.

Provide expert advice on procurement processes, policies, and best practices to internal stakeholders.

Analyse spending patterns and market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Manage supplier relationships, including contract negotiations, performance evaluations, and dispute resolution.

Ensure compliance with relevant procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.

Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for procurement activities.

Lead and participate in cross functional teams to drive procurement initiatives and projects.

Develop and maintain procurement documentation, including policies, procedures, and templates.

Provide training and guidance to staff on procurement processes and systems.

Collaborate with legal and finance departments to review and approve contracts and agreements.

Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement activities.

Stay informed about industry trends and innovations in procurement practices.

What you'll need to be successful

  • Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience in water utilities or infrastructure sector preferred
