About the Role
As the HR and Rostering Officer at Hikma House, you will play a key role in supporting and strengthening our workforce through both human resources management and operational staff scheduling. In this dual role, you will help attract, support, and retain high-quality staff while ensuring participants receive consistent, person-centred care through effective and responsive rostering.
Working closely with line managers, support coordinators, and frontline staff, you will manage recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance, alongside overseeing the day-to-day creation, adjustment, and communication of rosters. Your contribution will be vital to maintaining workforce compliance, maximising shift coverage, and fostering a positive workplace culture aligned with Hikma House’s mission to empower people through high-quality support services.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Functions
- Manage day-to-day HR operations and support HR compliance and documentation.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and staff on employee relations and performance matters.
- Assist with recruitment, including advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Coordinate onboarding and induction for new staff members.
- Prepare employment contracts, offer letters, and related HR documentation.
- Maintain accurate HR records in line with compliance requirements (e.g. WWCC, NDIS checks, training).
- Support performance review cycles and staff development initiatives.
- Contribute to staff wellbeing, engagement, and retention activities.
- Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, Awards, and internal HR policies.
- Assist in developing and implementing HR policies.
Rostering & Workforce Management
- Create and manage rosters that align with participant needs, support plans, and staff availability.
- Work closely with the Service Delivery team to ensure adequate shift coverage and efficient workforce allocation.
- Respond promptly to last-minute changes such as sick leave and cancellations.
- Maintain and update staff availability records.
- Collaborate with Admin and Team Leaders to match participants with suitable support workers.
- Monitor compliance with Award conditions and participant funding limits (e.g. NDIS price guide).
- Communicate roster changes and shift allocations to staff clearly and on time.
- Support timesheet verification and attendance tracking.
You Will Bring

- Working With Children Check
- Qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (essential).
- At least 2 years’ experience in an HR and/or rostering/coordination role.
- Strong knowledge of relevant industrial relations legislation and rostering systems.
- Experience in the disability, aged care, or community services sectors (desirable).
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills and familiarity with rostering software (e.g. ShiftCare, Carelink+, or similar).
