Key Responsibilities

• Interviewing clients to determine the nature of problems, recommending and undertaking appropriate legal action;

• Ensure compliance with local IP laws and regulations;

• File and manage applications for trade mark, patents and other IP rights;

• Representing clients in court as necessary;

• Preparing and critically reviewing contracts between parties;

• Advise on IP registration, enforcement and commercialisation opportunities; and

• Manage renewals and maintenance of IP assets.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Bachelor degree or higher qualification;

• Admission in Australia as a Solicitor;

• At least two (2) years of relevant experience within the legal industry. Specific experience in IP services highly desirable;

• Admission in PNG as a Solicitor (highly recommended);

• Professional body membership in a key Pacific Island nation (Papua New Guinea) - desired but not essential;

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

• Ability to speak and understand Pidging and Motu (dialect in Papua New Guinea);

• Excellent verbal communication skills; and

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
