The Role
This is a role focused on developing new business opportunities and managing key trade commercial relationships across the Melbourne region.
You’ll specialise in one of the company’s core product ranges — high-quality commercial flooring — working with flooring contractors, trade commercial clients, and Tier 3 & 4 Architects & Designers.
Your key objective will be to secure discretionary work, convert competitor specifications, and drive product volume in your region.
This role is on-the-ground and hands-on, involving frequent site visits, relationship-building with trades, and seeking business opportunities. You’ll be the go-to person in your territory, proactively managing the short-term sales pipeline while playing a critical role in expanding market share.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with flooring contractors, builders, and Tier 3 & 4 A&D professionals across the Melbourne region
- Win discretionary commercial work and secure specifications by switching out competitor products
- Frequent site visits to consult with trades, provide product support, and drive conversion
- Work closely with internal teams to escalate large or strategic opportunities
- Contribute to short-term sales growth by managing your local pipeline
- Identify new business opportunities in commercial construction markets
- Support cross-functional collaboration with specification and strategic account teams
- Track sales activities and pipeline progress using CRM tools
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven track record in B2B sales within building materials
- Strong understanding of trade commercial environments and how to sell on-site
- Existing networks across flooring contractors, builders, or related trades highly desirable
- Ability to identify and convert quick wins while spotting larger opportunities for referral
- High-level communication and influencing skills
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating across the broader sales structure
- Tech-savvy and confident using CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Must hold a valid driver’s licence
