  • Employment Type: Temporary full-time opportunity until June 2026
  • Location: Bathurst or Sydney - hybrid working available within NSW by negotiation

This role sits within the DCS SPA Strategy and Architecture team with Spatial Services.

About the team

Design and Delivery actively works across the entire DSC Spatial Services' project portfolio to develop business requirements and solution architecture designs for new business initiatives. Working in lockstep with the business units to successfully deliver new digital products and service capabilities. We exclusively design, build and operate our digital workloads and digital applications and systems within AWS Public Cloud.

Your day-to-day

The Solution Architect is responsible for the development of the technology solutions in AWS cloud and correlating the business requirements to systems/technical requirements to ensure they are in line with the enterprise architectural plan.

Key accountabilities:

  • Manage and maintain the enterprise reference architecture for DCS Spatial Services
  • Provide input to the strategic direction of technology investments to assist in the evolution of the enterprise architecture and to maximize return on investment
  • Ensure alignment between customer expectations, business requirements and current of future ICT capabilities under management

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Highly adaptable and embraces change at a rapid pace.
  • Identify system, infrastructure and project interdependencies and balance competing demands to ensure project deliverables are achieved.
  • Ability to work independently without continuous oversight.
  • Ability to communicate well in both the written and verbal forms.
  • Formal tertiary qualification and/or relevant practical experience / certification within AWS Public Cloud is highly desirable.

About DCS Spatial Service Agency

Spatial Services, a division of the Department of Customer Service, provides New South Wales' spatial and land information services.

Spatial Services has embarked upon a multimillion dollar digital and transformation program to deliver a Spatial Digital Twin this ambitious tool will revolutionise accuracy of property development and help communities and neighbourhoods through 3D and 4D planning capability across NSW. The benefits of this platform will also assist emergency operations across the state and is a monumental project in Spatial' s history.

Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at 145,378 base plus superannuation
