Initial End Date: Initially until end June 2026, but’s it’s a long-term program, so it will extend

Maximum Rate: $1,189.42 per day, including super ($1,200 plus GST if an ABN)

Location: Hybrid work option is available whereby the candidate will be required to be in the office (Police HQ, Charles Street, Parramatta) 3 days a week (non-negotiable and you must commit to this before applying) and can work from home rest of the time. Occasional workshops in the city and SOP (no set days, candidates must be flexible). The first 2 weeks will be based in the office, 5 days per week!

Restrictions: You must either be an Australian Citizen; Permanent resident of Australia; or New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.

Overview – The Program Solution Architect is responsible for developing and delivering solution architecture for the NSW Police Force (NSWPF), supporting core policing functions while working alongside teams managing projects within the ICT Portfolio, and ensuring technical designs align with project initiatives. This role collaborates with other Solution Architects, Technology Champions, and Security Architects to integrate individual project designs into a cohesive program architecture.

They are working on both new initiatives, and migrations e.g., they are currently moving away from datacentre to cloud. Some of the projects are very large and complex, and also the fact that there are so many projects, means that there are multiple technologies and vendors; so, they expect all candidates to have this level of experience i.e., multiple vendors (MS, AWS, Google etc), technologies, there are currently over 1,100 applications, and someone that has worked as part of a large team, as teamwork is everything.

Required Skills and Experience (Selection Criteria):

10+ years’ Architecture experience in defining applications solutions architecture and design, integrations, infrastructure and cloud architectures.

5+ years within Program Solution Architecture; WE ARE NOT seeking a Solution architect!

Must be TOGAF certified, and have a demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of TOGAF, and commercial experience of TOGAF principles. Other certification is expected for someone of this level, covering a broad background e.g., Cloud, Network, Database etc.

Experience on large scale projects of $10M+.

Must have experience on large-scale, complex transformation programs with “enterprise” size clients (the Police has 20,000+ employees). Experience in transformation programs such as data centre refresh and/or migration to cloud.

Must have experience on the interdependencies of the projects for program outcome delivery (both infrastructure and applications).

Must have a varied technical background and understanding – Networks, Security, Infrastructure, Applications, Cloud, and Domain experience.

Highly experienced user of MS Project and MS Office toolset (Word, Excel and Power Point); and

Excellent communication, and vendor and stakeholder management skills (C-Level), and experience in dealing with complex situations.

Position Overview: The role is focussed on delivering program outcomes, across multiple projects and different streams of work. The Program Solution Architect supports design reviews and ensures seamless integration of solutions across multiple projects within the broader program framework. Working closely with the Chief Enterprise Architect, program teams, business representatives, and vendors, this position drives digital and technology transformation efforts. It maps business and technical requirements to fit-for-purpose design outcomes, ensuring alignment with the NSWPF Enterprise Architecture (EA) strategy. The role also establishes and maintains enterprise architecture standards, roadmaps, and methodologies while managing architectural risks. By guiding analysts, architects, developers, and engineers, the Program Solution Architect ensures digital architectures support strategic program objectives, empowering NSWPF to enhance digital capabilities and achieve business outcomes.
