Required Skills and Experience:

A large number of NSW residences are equipped with Solar Energy panels. During times of high solar output and low demand, the electricity grid can face increased risks of instability and blackouts. To counter this the Emergency Backstop Mechanism will allow energy distribution networks to temporarily limit or turn off solar exports from solar systems installed. This is to protect grid stability during times when demand for energy is low. The Emergency Backstop Mechanism will also use technologies that will enable more flexible solar export limits, allowing solar households and businesses to export more of their solar when the grid needs it

The Solution Architect will support the design and technical alignment of internal Solar Application process, ensuring consistency with 2 other DNSPs Distributed Network Service Providers, and to contribute to the successful delivery of integrated solutions

• Role of Solution Architect: Need for a solution architect to design the solar emergency backstop front end and manage solar input into the grid. The architect will work with the Solar Emergency backstop program to build this capability into the ServiceNow platform.
• Design Role: The solution architect will design the solar emergency backstop front end to manage solar input into the grid.
• ServiceNow Integration: The architect will work with the backstop program to integrate this capability into the ServiceNow platform.
• Technical Responsibilities: The architect will manage technical integrations across multiple platforms and external APIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend DNSP Portal Working Group and Face-to-Face Meetings to support alignment across DNSP Portal solutions.
• Specify business requirements and convert them into Application Request artefacts and business rules, working closely with Customer Connections stakeholders
• Ensure technical alignment of the Solar Application with other DNSPs for a consistent application approach and delivery.
• Document scenarios against the solution, ensuring consistent processes where alignment has been agreed, and clearly define client specific treatment.
• Collaborate on technical build activities, including Application Request, Automations, and Exception Handling, in line with the overall solution.
• Develop High-Level (HL) designs for technical components and data structures to support:

1. CEC data
2. Installer Portal feed and return compliance data -Oversee HL design and technical integrations for (CEC APIs (3), DECCEW Installer Portal (2), Utility Server integration).

• Identify and support other solution aspects, including impacts on: MBS and SAP current DER feed.

Key Capabilities:

1. Strong experience in solution architecture with an ability to align business needs and technical design.
2. Proven ability to manage technical integrations across multiple platforms and external APIs.
3. Skilled in translating business requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications and artefacts.
4. Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments, particularly with DNSPs or utilities.
5. Strong documentation skills including scenario documentation, HL design and process alignment.
6. Collaborative approach to solution build with a focus on consistent, scalable, and aligned delivery.
