Job Description
The Student Experience Officer will work as part of the Student & Academic Services Team to deliver services that support the academic experience and overall well-being of students. The role includes front desk reception duties as the first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors, providing a welcoming and professional presence. It is responsible for delivering high-quality administrative and service support, as well as designing and implementing a range of orientation, events, and student engagement programs.
This role also involves collaborating with academic departments, faculty, and administrative staff to ensure the successful implementation of programs that support student engagement and success.
Qualifications
Key skills and experience will include:
• Previous experience in the higher education sector in an administrative & student engagement role.
• Proven experience in event planning, preferably in a higher education or student-focused environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Proficiency in communication tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and event management software.
• Commitment to encourage an inclusive and supportive campus community where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered.
• Insight into the unique challenges faced by students in alternative education pathways, including international students navigating complex transitions.
• Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to quickly learn and navigate various platforms and software systems.

The designation of tasks and activities will be subject to individual College requirements and may change over time.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Key Responsibilities
1. Event Planning and Delivery
- Plan and deliver a variety of student events, including orientations, cultural celebrations, social activities, and workshops.
- Coordinate logistics such as venues, budgets, marketing, risk assessments, and on-the-day execution.
- Collaborate with students, staff, and faculty to ensure events are inclusive, relevant, and impactful.
2. Student Engagement and Support
- Act as the first point of contact at reception for student life enquiries and support, providing information, guidance, and referrals as needed
- Lead and support the Student Advisory group, promoting strong relationships an encouraging involvement.
- Build strong relationships with student groups and advocate for diverse student needs.
3. Communications and Outreach
- Develop and manage communications across emails, social media, newsletters, and signage to promote student initiatives.
- Create inclusive messaging that encourages participation and tracks engagement to guide improvements.
4. Administration
- Maintain records on student engagement and event feedback.
- Support scheduling, reporting, budget tracking, and ensure compliance with relevant policies.
- Provide support with a range of administrative, reception, and student services duties, including handling phone enquiries and responding to student emails via the CRM system.
Undertake any other student/administrative/reception duties and/or projects as required and directed by the SAS Coordinator or Manager.

• Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, allowing you to communicate effectively with professionals from both academic and administrative areas. Your ability to build positive relationships is key to fostering a supportive educational environment.
• Event Planning and Execution: Demonstrated experience in conceptualising, planning and executing a diverse range of student events, including orientations, cultural celebrations, social activities, and educational workshops.
• Student Engagement and Support:
Demonstrated skills and experience in developing relationships with students from diverse backgrounds and success in shaping a positive student experience.
• Communications and Outreach:
Develop and implement communication strategies to effectively promote student events, initiatives, and opportunities across various channels, including social media, email newsletters, and campus signage.
• Systems and Technology:
Bring experience with information systems or databases, and/or customer relationship management systems to the role. Your technological proficiency will contribute to streamlined administrative processes and improved student services.
• Attention to Detail: Demonstrate an excellent attention to detail, including strong proofreading and editing skills. Your commitment to precision ensures the accuracy and quality of administrative communications and documentation.
• Problem Solving: Demonstrate the ability to independently resolve routine problems and issues, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of administrative and event operations.
Qualifications:
• A diploma or higher (or, in lieu, at least three years’ relevant experience) relating to administration, events management, education, student welfare, business or international relations.
• Currently holds or ability to obtain a WWVP card.
• Australian working rights.
Desirable:
• Understanding of key legislation, policies, and procedures relevant to International students including the ESOS ACT.
