The Role
Your Mission: Secure Australia's Strategic Submarine Advantage for Decades to Come
This is not just another asset management role. This is a unique opportunity to directly influence one of Australia's most critical defence capabilities and shape its future. As an Asset Manager for the Collins Class submarine fleet, you will safeguard a world-class and highly capable submarine that is vital to Australia's sovereignty and the deterrence of conflict.
The importance of this program cannot be overstated. Success in the Collins Class directly underpins Australia's readiness for the next generation of submarines. Your contribution to optimising these boats ensures Australia is best prepared to receive, operate, and sustain the future Virginia Class and AUKUS-built submarines. You are not just managing an existing asset; you are paving the way for the future.
This is a strategic leadership role where your technical acumen and judgement will influence senior leaders. You will have the autonomy to investigate complex issues, pioneer innovative sustainment strategies, and make evidence-based decisions that have a real-world impact on national security.
If you are a strategic thinker with a passion for complex technology and a desire to contribute to a mission that will define Australia's defence capability for generations, we want to hear from you.
- Develop, implement, and manage whole-of-life asset management strategies and plans for your designated submarine systems.
- Provide authoritative advice to senior leadership on system health, making recommendations that balance performance, cost, and risk.
- Lead engagement with stakeholders across the Royal Australian Navy, industry partners, and technical authorities to ensure integrated and effective sustainment.
- Drive the resolution of systemic issues, including analysing defect reports, managing obsolescence, and evaluating maintenance activities to optimise performance.
- Ensure all activities are conducted within a framework of legislation, established principles, and Defence's mission.
