About the business and the role
Lupo Lab is located in the heart of Mount Hawthorn (WA), a thriving suburb in the greater Perth metropolitan area. We are an unassuming restaurant specializing in traditional Italian cuisine, including homemade pasta. We offer a wide range of pastas and mains (pork, salmon, beef, chicken and calamari to our guests accompanied by sauces, sides and wines. The location of the Restaurant makes it perfect for all occasions. Currently we are after an experienced Chef specialised in Italian pasta dishes.
Job tasks and responsibilities
The role involves top quality pasta dishes production standard. The kitchen team works 7 days a week, split shift roster covering 3 nights and weekends. The winning candidate’s responsibility will be working with the kitchen team to control the kitchen operations. He or She will also be in charge of planning and drafting the menus, estimate food and labour costs, and liaising with suppliers to prepare the orders for food supplies; He or She will monitor and be responsible for the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation; He or She will discuss food preparation issues with the Manager and the kitchen and waiting staff; will train other team members if and when required; may be requested to prepare and cook food; as the quality of our products and the safety of our Clients is paramount, will be responsible to make sure that all relevant regulations in terms of food health, hygiene and safety are complied with at all times, including rules, methods and practices related to food freezing and subsequent thawing.
Skills and experience
We are looking for a professional. Someone who is capable of keeping costs under control while providing top of standard and well-presented dishes.
The successful candidate will be trade qualified, holding at least an Australian Certificate IV in commercial cookery or the offshore equivalent (holding a qualification gained in Italy will be a plus) and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the role; he or she should be currently employed as full time Chef in a restaurant with a similar menu as ours;
Preference will be given to candidate who can start asap and who speak Italian at least at a functional level, as we are visited on a daily basis by Italian speaking guests;
What we offer:
- a tasty employment, literally;
- a salary of $ 85,000.00 p.a. plus superannuation;
- a full time (38 hrs/week), ongoing position for at least three years and beyond;
Other requirements:
must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
must not be a smoker;
must be able to provide a clean and recent (not older than 1 month) AFP NPC;
