With a strong focus on great food, quality drinks, and warm, genuine service, Bert’s is designed to become a go-to destination for locals and visitors alike.We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.

As a Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations and ensuring the delivery of exceptional culinary experiences for our discerning clientele. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and contribute to the ongoing success of our acclaimed establishment.

What you'll be doing

Assisting the Head Chef in managing and coordinating all kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks and kitchen assistants

Participating in the creation and development of innovative seasonal menus that showcase the finest local produce

Overseeing the preparation, cooking and presentation of all menu items to the highest standards

Ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations

Participating in inventory management and ordering of supplies to maintain optimal stock levels

Providing mentorship and training to junior kitchen staff to develop their skills and expertise

Collaborating with the front-of-house team to deliver exceptional customer service

What we're looking for

Minimum 2 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role within hospitality environment

Strong technical cooking skills and a deep understanding of various culinary techniques and trends

Excellent time management, multitasking and problem-solving abilities to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Proven experience in menu development and the ability to work collaboratively with the Head Chef

Strong leadership and mentorship skills to effectively manage and develop a team of kitchen professionals

Passion for using fresh, seasonal ingredients and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with the front-of-house team
