The Role
This is a senior technical leadership role within a major Australian government agency undergoing large-scale digital transformation. As Technical Architect, you’ll define and drive the technical strategy across multiple cross-functional squads building mission-critical systems that support national priorities.

You'll work closely with product and delivery leads to ensure the architecture is sound, delivery is consistent, and engineering teams are supported to deliver secure, scalable platforms. This is a unique opportunity to influence how modern digital services are delivered across government—balancing hands-on technical guidance with high-level strategic thinking.

About You

You’re a seasoned technical leader with strong architecture and cloud experience, and you’ve led engineering across multiple teams or domains. You have excellent communication skills and can align teams on direction, unblock delivery, and translate technical decisions clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

You bring a strong delivery mindset, can manage dependencies across teams, and care deeply about developer experience, platform health, and measurable user impact.

Essential

• Proven technical leadership across Agile, cross-functional teams
• Deep hands-on experience with TypeScript, Node.js and MS SQL Server
• Strong grasp of modern software architecture and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD tooling and automation
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and mentoring capability

The Offer

• Daily rate up to $1,400 (inclusive of superannuation)
• Initial 12-month contract with 2 x 6-month extension options
• Hybrid work from ACT, NSW, QLD, or VIC (up to 2 days in-office per week)
• Must be an Australian citizen and able to obtain Baseline clearance
