The Opportunity
We’re working with a general insurance client undergoing a major pricing modernisation program. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to end-to-end pricing processes, working with modern tools and techniques to deliver practical, high-impact outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing meaningful analysis and insights across product, segment, channel, and overall business profitability
- Conducting pricing impact assessments and developing data-driven pricing recommendations
- Building and refining models using Python and ML techniques (e.g. XGBoost)
- Performing premium adequacy analysis, data extraction, modelling, rate setting, and ongoing performance monitoring
- Contributing to the continual evolution of rating algorithms and pricing strategy
- Using Databricks and Spark-based platforms to manage and scale data workflows
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including finance, valuations, and underwriting
- Working closely with the business to ensure pricing insights align with commercial objectives
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in general insurance pricing, ideally within short-tail products
- Strong Python coding skills (this is the core tool used in modelling and analysis)
- Machine learning experience, including hands-on use of models such as XGBoost
- Proficiency in SQL and/or SAS for data querying and transformation
- Practical experience using Databricks (or similar cloud platforms with Spark)
- GLM and rate setting experience
- Familiarity with WTW software, particularly Emblem and Radar
- Ability to translate business problems into analytical approaches and communicate findings clearly
- Comfortable working autonomously and applying critical problem-solving skills
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Science, Data Science, Business, Actuarial Studies, or Computer Science
- At least 3- 5 years of experience
- Strong MS Excel skills
- Familiarity with tools like R, Emblem, or Radar
- The ability to communicate technical analysis to a broad range of stakeholders
- A collaborative mindset and a strong sense of ownership over your work
Why Apply?
This isn’t a typical actuarial role. It’s a unique chance to work at the intersection of pricing, data science, and cloud computing, helping modernise pricing practices in a high-performing insurance environment. You'll be part of a supportive team and have a clear path to make a commercial impact.
