Our client is a well-known nationally for their high quality products in the mining and construction industry. With offices across NSW and Qld, they specialise in custom design and fabrication of products along with equipment hire. Due to growth, we're currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson (Fabrication) to join their team. Within this role, you will be responsible for producing precise, high-quality fabrication drawings, 3D models, and exploded diagrams tailored for manufacturing and assembly.

The Draftsperson will work closely with Engineers, Managers, Supervisors, and trade personnel to optimise designs for efficient fabrication, ensure strict compliance with technical and quality standards, and support continuous improvement in our production processes. In this role, you will be working on high priority jobs that require a quick turn-around.

The role:

• Create detailed fabrication drawings, 3D models, and exploded diagrams that accurately represent components, assemblies, and fabrication processes.

• Generate digital files compatible with automated manufacturing systems (e.g., CNC, laser cutting) to ensure a smooth transition from design to production.
• Implement rigorous quality assurance checks on all designs and documentation.
• Proactively verify that drawings strictly adhere to fabrication standards, tolerances, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with design engineers to incorporate modifications and resolve fabrication challenges.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs) specific to fabrication needs.
• Take accountability by promptly identifying, reporting, and escalating any deviations, inaccuracies, or potential risks.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging fabrication technologies, and best practices in drafting and design.

What we’re looking for:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Engineering or related discipline.
• Exceptional organisation, time management, planning and prioritisation skills to manage workloads within set time frames.
• Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the business.
• Experience with 3D CAD software – e.g. Solid Works and PDM with a focus on producing detailed fabrication drawings.
• Engineering, workshop fabrication background.
• Knowledge of industry standards, quality and tolerances.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to deal professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to excellence, safety, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Reliable and prompt with a professional, neat and tidy appearance.
• Ability to work effectively within and contribute to a team environment, as well as work autonomously.
