Currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Draftsperson in a fulltime permanent opportunity to join a well-established OEM based in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley region. With over 50 years of operation, this company has delivered innovative solutions across Australia to support the mining industry and is now expanding its team to support upcoming projects.

About the Role:

As a Mechanical Design Draftsperson, you will be working collaboratively with a drafting team and engineers to develop new design concepts. This role requires a balance of creative thinking and technical proficiency, with an emphasis on cost-effective and timely design solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and detailing mechanical designs using Autodesk Inventor and Vault
• Collaborating with engineers and workshop staff to ensure practical and effective outcomes
• Managing communications with both internal and external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers
• Contributing to project planning and cost control efforts
• Ensuring all designs meet safety and quality standards

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Qualifications in Mechanical Drafting
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Vault
• 5+ years of industry experience in mechanical design, ideally within heavy industry
• Previous experience working with an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management and organisational abilities

Desirable:

• Experience working with longwall equipment for underground mining
