The Cropping Manager leads the implementation of a 2,000-hectare dryland cropping and hay program, playing a crucial role in optimising economic returns and ensuring efficient operations.
This role is instrumental in fostering a productive team culture and driving the success of the cropping enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise daily cropping operations, ensuring efficient task completion and optimal crop health from seeding to harvest.
- Manage and mentor a team of employees, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
- Oversee crop monitoring, including timely nutrition and pest management, to maximise yield and quality.
- Coordinate machinery maintenance and pre-season planning to ensure all equipment is reliable and operational.
- Contribute to weekly planning meetings, logistics, and forward planning for the cropping program.
- Implement safe operating procedures and maintain accurate records for paddock applications and inventory.
What the Role Requires:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on dryland broadacre cropping experience.
- Proficiency in operating large-scale broadacre machinery including tractors, seeders, sprayers, and harvesters.
- Demonstrated experience in crop agronomy and husbandry.
- Current Chemical User's Certificate and a valid driver's license.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- An honest, trustworthy, and reliable work ethic with effective communication skills.
Nice to Have:
- Hay experience
- Heavy Combination (HC) driver’s licence or Telehandler certificate.
- Basic first aid training and OHS awareness.
