We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Family Engagement Officer to join our Child Health and Development Service. This is a part-time (3 days) ongoing position, based primarily at our new Ocean Grove Kingston site.
About the team
The Child Health and Development team provide a multidisciplinary allied health services for children and young people primarily aged 0-12 years. It is comprised of a dynamic, collaborative, and friendly group of occupational therapists, speech pathologists, mental health professionals, and physiotherapist.
About the role
In this role, you will:
Be one of the first point of contacts for families accessing BCH’s child services.
Engage directly with families of children aged 0–12 years to understand their strengths, developmental and support needs.
Conduct holistic screenings and assist in coordinating appropriate internal and external services.
Provide child and family centred, culturally sensitive, non-clinical support that enhances engagement, builds trust and strengthens timely outcomes.
Help identify children and families who may require more immediate or complex supports.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support seamless service pathways.
Contribute to administrative and operational tasks that keep our service running smoothly.
We would like to hear from you, if you have...
Demonstrated experience in engaging with families or working with children and their families.
An understanding of child development and the principles of child and family centred practice.
Experience working within a team environment within healthcare, early childhood, early intervention, community services or disability sector.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with and work sensitively across diverse backgrounds.
A sound knowledge of child development, social determinates of health, and understanding of principles of child and family centred practice.
High degree of administrative and organisational skills including the ability to meet agreed performance targets, maintain accurate documentation, and prioritise work tasks.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships, work flexibly, and work collaboratively within a team environment.
Competent in the use of information technology e.g. Microsoft Office, Client Management Systems.
Formal education post-secondary school.
