MD Group consists of multiple trading companies operating Nationally within the commercial building sector. Collectively we employ up to 120 people throughout our construction and manufacturing companies. Established in 2016, MD Group has evolved into a comprehensive provider of Construction Services, including trade contracting, project management and specialized trades and labour hire services offering end-to-end solutions for construction and civil projects while also operating a commercial Joinery manufacturing facility.

The Person We’re Looking For / The Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Officer to play a vital role within our finance team. Working directly with and reporting to the Financial Controller, you will ensure smooth accounting operations while multitasking in a busy, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Process invoices/accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions

Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and credit card statements

Assist with month‑end close: journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and general ledger reconciliations

Payroll processing and associated reporting for multiple entities

Maintain accurate fixed asset registers and depreciation

Assist with BAS preparation and lodgment

Support Financial Controller in audit preparation and annual financial processes

Provide financial support to project leads and the wider team as needed

Qualifications and Experience / About You

Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accounting / accounts officer role

Minimum of 1 years' experience working within the commercial construction sector will be desirable

Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Strong understanding of AP/AR, GST, BAS, and reconciliation processes

Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic familiarity with project management software

Proficient in Xero (or similar accounting software) and advanced Excel skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an extremely fast-paced environment

Methodical with high attention to detail and data accuracy

Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
