We’re a family-run business, deeply rooted in values that span generations. As we expand, we’re looking for a Harvest Operation Manager. Harvest Managers oversee and manage the day-to-day row cropping harvest operation, and work collaboratively with the supply and production teams to meet the harvest targets and production goals. The Harvest managers are also responsible for the hand picking, using a variety of mechanical harvest aids.

Key operational accountabilities include:

• Design the harvest workforce and shift plans in line with production plans
• Oversee the induction, training and performance management of all in house and contracted harvest personnel
• Liaise with members of the supply chain and production teams to prioritise, plan and implement daily and weekly harvest schedules
• Direct the allocation of a harvest workforce of up to 150 people to specific tasks based on experiences, skill and reliability in line with the harvest schedules
• Arrange, co-ordinate and oversee all activities of external harvest contractors
• Work hand in hand with maintenance personnel to ensure harvest operations have the highest possible equipment availability day to day
• Generate, analyse, share and act on the agreed operational performance metrics for the harvest operation
• Ensuring all harvest requirements of the company’s food safety standards, including HARPS and Global Gap, are adhere to
• Drive all aspects of continuous improvement projects within the harvest function
• Record and maintain daily, weekly and monthly harvest progression reports
• Report and discuss with the production manager and directing manager about the harvest statistics and operation

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

• At least 24 months or longer related experience and may have, or be undertaking, a formal qualification in Management
• Proven ability and experience in the operational management
• A genuine sense of urgency with a “can do” attitude
• Understanding of commercial realities including exposure to and participation in financial, commercial and planning decisions
• Demonstrated ability to develop work plans and achieve the goals of the works plans
• Initiative and integrity
• Team player
• Flexibility in hours worked to achieve harvest targets.
• A current driver’s licence
