Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.
About the Opportunity
The Team Leader – Outreach Wellbeing Programs will oversee programs and services delivered by the Outreach Wellbeing Programs Team to ensure they are delivered in an effective, efficient and accountable manner, providing high quality, client focused care. The Team Leader will ensure that the Outreach Wellbeing Program deliverables are met in accordance with the relevant funding contracts, Apunipima Model of Care and wellbeing needs of Cape York communities. This is a part time, fixed term position ending on the 30 June 2026.
There is a genuine occupational requirement under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), for this position to be filled by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. The position is therefore only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants
About You
We are seeking applicants who have:
Demonstrated experience leading and supervising a multidisciplinary team, preferably within a social and community services environment.
Demonstrated experience leading the planning, monitoring and review of social and emotional wellbeing programs and services.
Demonstrated experience providing advice, guidance and support on complex social and emotional wellbeing cases, including risk assessments, support planning and case reviews.
Experience providing services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, preferably in Cape York.
Effective leadership skills to support a team of workers across a number of disciplines.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to coordinate and monitor holistic, culturally appropriate and integrated social and emotional wellbeing programs and services.
High level communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate solutions to issues as they arise.
Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York.
Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community control.
Must be willing and have the ability to travel in Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD, as required.
Mandatory Requirements
Qualification in Human Services or Behavioural Science relevant to the position.
Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
Blue Card (Working with Children Card), or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement.
AFP National Police Check, or willing to obtain prior to commencement.
Desirable
Qualification in Indigenous leadership.
Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO).
