About Us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.
About the Opportunity
The Team Leader is responsible for the leadership, development, and coordination of local social and emotional wellbeing programs ensuring services are consistent with the Apunipima Way and Model of Care.
Under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community
About You
We are seeking applicants who have:
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, preferably within a social and community services environment.
Demonstrated experience contributing to the improvement of service delivery within a complex organisation.
Experience delivering direct wellbeing services to individual and families utilising a case management approach.
Demonstrated experience supporting the development of team members within the community services sector.
Demonstrated knowledge and, ability to coordinate and deliver holistic, culturally appropriate and integrated wellbeing services and programs.
High level communication and personal skills including the ability to negotiate solutions to issues as they arise.
Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York.
Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community control.
Must be willing and have the ability to travel in Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD as required.
Mandatory Requirements
Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health or equivalent in a relevant discipline and,
Willingness to work towards a Diploma in the same disciplines within an agreed and specified timeframe.
A minimum of 5 years' experience as a social and community services worker.
Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement.
Current AFP National Police Clearance or willing to obtain prior to commencement.
Desirable
Qualification in Alcohol and Other Drugs.
Experience and expertise alcohol and drugs service delivery.
