About the role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Team Leader to join our new Transitional Recovery program in Rockhampton. In this fixed term, full-time role you will lead and support a team in delivering high-quality, recovery-oriented support to people, their families, and carers in line with Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice and organisational values for people with a psychosocial disability.
In this role you will act as the practice lead, providing supervision, mentoring and coaching to staff, while also overseeing the day-to-day operations of the service in line with program requirements.
About the service
The Transitional Recovery program is designed to support adults to transition from an acute mental health setting to living in the community and to prevent further hospital admissions. In a homelike environment with 24-hour access to staff, people are supported to achieve their recovery goals, strengthen relationships with families and carers, develop social connections, and build confidence to live independently and safely in the community. The program provides personalised one-to-one support, shared supports, workshops, and group activities based on the person’s strengths and goals as identified in their individual recovery plan.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and support a team to deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented services that facilitate positive educational, social, and independent living outcomes for people we support.
- Provide direct support to clients to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
- Lead and model effective practice to staff working with people, provide support to families and carers, and plan and deliver group work.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the service including administration, rostering, facilitating handovers and monitoring budget expenditure.
- Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a coordinated, integrated response to people’s recovery goals.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
- Expertise in supporting people with mental health challenges and complex needs, with proven ability to lead teams in recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and family-inclusive practices.
- Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to provide evidence of immunisation against vaccine preventable diseases or willingness to obtain vaccinations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chickenpox, Whooping Cough, Hepatitis B, or other diseases as required by our partnership with QLD Health.
