Job Description: Vice President - Academic
The Vice President - Academic is the senior academic of the School across all its campuses and courses. Reporting to the President, the VP - Academic is a member of the School’s senior leadership team.
Key responsibilities of the VP – Academic are to uphold high academic standards, be forward looking, and to lead and inspire a team of both senior and junior faculty. The VP - Academic would also be required to raise the School’s profile and reputation in academic circles both in Australia and internationally.
A. Strategy Formulation and Implementation
• Assist the President in the School’s strategy formulation. This includes academic, brand and financial wellbeing.
• In line with the School’s mission steer the School’s pedagogy and academic excellence.
B. Course/Curriculum Development and Delivery to achieve excellent student and graduate outcomes
• Lead and oversee the Deans to recruit a diverse student body, deliver high quality courses and achieve excellent graduate outcomes.
• Guide the Deans and curriculum committees to develop innovative pedagogy integrated with new learning technologies like online learning, gaming and simulations for experiential/application based learning for existing and new courses.
• Stay directly connected with the student and alumni bodies through various initiatives
like student town halls, alumni recognition events and student focus group interactions.
• Think of new courses, especially new age ones, that could be offered by the School.
C. Faculty and Academic Staff Development and Management
• Work in close collaboration with the Director, Faculty Management to develop and
operationalize a comprehensive faculty recruitment and management plan to attract and develop high quality faculty and academic staff.
• Regularly interact with faculty and academic staff to nurture a motivated and integrated academic team.
• To guide resource planning to ensure both fulltime and adjunct academics well ahead of time.
D. Research
• Support and guide the Dean - Research to steer the School’s research efforts and output towards practice-oriented research.
• Develop and expand centers of excellence, innovation and research excellence.
• Integrate the various research efforts with industry into a collaborative research initiative for the School.
E. Accreditation and Quality Assurance
• Steer the accreditation and quality assurance team to achieve high quality accreditations
and regulatory compliances with various bodies like TEQSA, CPE, MOHESR, etc.
• Work with the team to develop strong credibility and relationships with accreditation and academic regulatory bodies.
• Working with the Vice President (Administration) ensure that a full statistical data is
maintained including data on student enrolments, including countries of origin, performance of agents, attrition and graduation rates per course.
• Assist our team on accreditation with EQUIS and AACSB.
F. Executive Education (EE)
• Guide the Director-Non-Degree Programs to develop high quality EE programs
• Steer the growth of tailored EE for multinational corporations.
G. Brand Building, Recognition and Collaborations
• Collaborate with the VP – Administration and Marketing teams to create global brand
recognition and excellence for the School.
• Expand the partnerships for the School has for student exchanges, joint programs,
benchmarking and research.
• Monitor and oversee ranking and other brand recognition activities.
• Speak and present at conferences as a measure to build the brand and profile of the
School.
• Assist our Corporate Relations team in Australia to expand the corporate network and
build strong relationships.
H. Focus on Artificial Intelligence
As AI is disrupting education, to assist the school in it deployment of AI across all academic activities, including help our students learn, faculty training and assessments, exam paper reviews, etc.
