Role Objective
The ADR has authority delegated from the Executive Dean to lead and manage the research portfolio at CIHE. The role is responsible for fostering a vibrant research culture, supporting scholarly activity and ensuring the ethical and impactful dissemination of intellectual property. The ADR will drive continuous improvement in research quality and output, aligning research initiatives with CIHE's strategic goals and academic strengths.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a strategic research plan that builds on the interests and expertise of current staff.
Promote research that informs and enhances teaching, contributing to a symbiotic relationship between research and curriculum.
Provide course coordination for research degrees.
Ensure the ethical conduct of research and the responsible dissemination of intellectual property (e.g. through publication).
Cultivate an environment conducive to scholarly activity, including industry engagement and collaborative research.
Support the development of a community of practice that encourages staff research and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
Maintain personal research activity and publication to model scholarly excellence.
Stay current with research methodologies, trends and policy frameworks relevant to higher education.
Represent CIHE in research-related forums and develop industry links that lead to collaborative projects, grants and enhanced student employability.
Mentor academic staff in research development and scholarly output.
Ensure CIHE's compliance with TEQSA and professional accreditation requirements in the research domain.
Promote collegiality, mutual respect and a productive work environment among staff and students.
Maintain active membership in a relevant academic or industry body.
Selection Criteria
The following selection criteria are essential to the role of ADR.
Academic and Professional Standing
Minimum of 5 years post-PhD research experience.
Track record of at least nine peer-reviewed publications, including a majority of the best nine in top tier journals.
Demonstrated success in securing competitive research grants.
Demonstrated capacity for cross-cultural engagement, particularly with international student populations.
Proven ability to build relationships with industry partners and external stakeholders.
Deep understanding of emerging trends in research, scholarship and higher education policy.
Experience in mentoring and developing others in research and scholarly activity.
Understanding of the research frameworks provided by TEQSA, the NHMRC and other bodies.
Qualifications
Doctorate in a field related to Business, Accounting, Information Technology, Early Childhood Education, Language Education, Community Welfare or Learning and Teaching.
Leadership Experience
Demonstrated academic leadership, including supervision and support of academic staff.
Experience in motivating staff to improve research performance and scholarly output.
Proven ability to develop programs that support staff research and publishing.
Experience in successful supervision of at least 3 PhD candidates to completion

Note: For the right person, the position would be offered at Level D for salary purposes. The use of the "Associate Professor" title, typically associated with Level D, is subject to Academic Board approval based on academic standing and scholarly contributions.
