About the role:
Are you a confident communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure? Independent Living Victoria (ILV) is seeking a compassionate and proactive On Call Coordinator to support our rostering operations outside standard business hours.
This is a casual, work-from-home role that offers flexibility and autonomy. It may suit individuals looking for work that fits around other commitments, such as study, caregiving or other part-time work. You’ll be the first point of contact for staff and clients during on-call hours, helping to ensure our clients continue to receive high-quality care—no matter the time of day.
The position will fulfil a range of ‘On-Call’ hours as defined:
5am – 9am and 5pm to 11pm Monday to Friday
5am – 11pm Saturday, Sunday and Public holidays.
Key functions of the role will include:
Provide full on-call coverage during allocated periods.
Allocation of shifts to ensure staff skillsets match individual client support needs.
Ensure shifts are filled as requested in a timely manner
Respond promptly and professionally to phone calls regarding client care and staff rostering
Manage last-minute shift cancellations and coordinate replacements efficiently
Use initiative to assess and escalate health-related concerns appropriately
Maintain clear and accurate records of calls and actions taken
Work independently and make sound decisions under time pressure
Ensure that any specific requests/procedures are passed on to the support staff, so they understand what is expected from them on each shift booked
Manage and resolve any issues that arise for support workers after hours
About you:
General Administration experience is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Knowledge of the SCHADS Award provisions relating to rostering, shift work, and penalty rates.
Confident handling a high volume of phone calls and thinking on your feet
Calm and resourceful in urgent or high-pressure situations
Strong organisational and time management skills
Comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision
Willingness to learn our internal rostering software (training provided)
Positive and friendly attitude.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately deal with sensitive information.
Flexible and adaptable approach to work demands.
