In light of our expanding business, we are eagerly searching for talented and
qualified cooks to join our dynamic team. This presents a unique opportunity for
passionate culinary professionals to become an integral part of a thriving and
innovative culinary environment.
As a Cook, your duties include (but are not limited) to the following:
Organizing and sanitizing preparation areas before use
Accurately portioning all recipe components
Inspecting ingredients for freshness and proper condition
Maintaining correct storage of perishables in refrigeration units
Creating dishes according to established menu specifications
Accommodating special nutritional needs when required
Applying various cooking methods including roasting, sautéing and poaching
Testing flavors and making necessary seasoning adjustments
Arranging meals with attention to visual presentation
Enforcing all health and sanitation regulations
Tracking ingredient supplies and notifying when restocking needed
Developing menu offerings and calculating portion needs
Possibly guiding and mentoring junior kitchen team members
Continuously expanding culinary knowledge and skills
Qualifications and skills required for the role:
Hold a Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent
Minimum 1 years’ experience as a Cook
Excellent communication and leadership skills
A solid foundation in cooking techniques, knife skills, and a good understanding of various cooking methods
Strong business acumen
Strong understanding of food safety programs
Being able to think creatively and come up with new and exciting dishes or variations to existing ones

Fonda is a Mexican street food dining experience; delicious, fresh food served by friendly and receptive Fondarians in a beautifully designed space.
Our burritos are made with freshly pressed tortillas; the ‘Fonda Press’ spent 4 months on a boat getting here but takes just 1.8 seconds to press your tortilla. Once you have experienced a freshly pressed tortilla, it’s hard to go back.
Our taco tortillas are made daily from fresh corn, the same way Aztecs and Mayans enjoyed them.
Like a Fonda in Mexico, all of our food is made from scratch, in-house by Fondarians. Our beef is 100% grass-fed, our pork is 100% Australian sow stall-free, our chicken is RSPCA approved, our fresh rockling and prawns are all caught in Australia and our corn tortillas are made from 100% non-GMO corn husk.
